The Opportunity
Consultant Cardiologist Pacemaker Service (0.1 EFT)
St Vincents Hospital Melbourne (Fitzroy)
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Cardiologist to join our Pacemaker Service. Working 0.1 EFT this position is ideal for a clinician looking to contribute to a high‑quality electrophysiology service within a major tertiary and teaching hospital.
Role Overview
The role alternates weekly between two core areas :
* Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (3.5 hours / fortnight): Focused on pacemaker implantation and device‑related procedures
* Arrhythmia Clinic (1 session / fortnight): Consultation, diagnosis and management of patients with complex arrhythmias
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a respected multidisciplinary cardiology team known for its commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and collaborative care.
Classifications for this position will range from HN15 – HN55 ( $113.05 – $147.73 per hour) excluding super.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform pacemaker implantation and contribute to a safe and efficient cath lab workflow
* Diagnose and manage arrhythmias through specialist outpatient consultations
* Engage in multidisciplinary team discussions to enhance patient outcomes
* Participate in quality assurance procedural documentation and departmental meetings
* Support education and training of junior medical staff and cardiology trainees
About You
You are a highly competent and collaborative cardiologist with :
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology
* Subspecialty training and experience in pacemaker and device implantation
* Current AHPRA registration (or eligibility for registration)
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated experience working in a tertiary hospital environment (desirable)
* A patient‑first evidence‑based approach to clinical care

Position Summary
St Vincents Hospital Melbourne is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Cardiologist to join our Cardiology Department in a 0.1 EFT capacity. This role includes dedicated clinical responsibilities alternating weekly between pacemaker implantation and the arrhythmia clinic. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality patient care, procedural expertise and multidisciplinary collaboration in a tertiary hospital setting.
Qualifications & Experience
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology.
Subspecialty training and experience in device implantation.
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated experience in a tertiary hospital setting is desirable.
