Wheatbelt Steel has been a specialist of agricultural steel sheds and structures in Western Australia since 1982. As a division of Ahrens — a fifth‐generation, Australian family‐owned business with over 120 years of experience — we are trusted to deliver high‐quality, cost‐effective solutions both locally and internationally.
Joining Wheatbelt Steel means becoming part of a broader network of more than 450 employees across WA and nearly 2,000 nationally, united by a supportive team culture, diverse backgrounds, and a shared commitment to excellence.
We are now seeking a hands‐on, commercially astute General Manager to take full ownership of the Wheatbelt Steel business and drive performance across safety, people, production, and profitability.
This is not a "sit‐back" GM role. We are looking for someone who gets into the detail, lifts standards, and consistently delivers results.
About the Role
The General Manager is responsible for providing strong leadership and strategic direction for Wheatbelt Steel, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
* Overseeing daily operations
* Driving safety, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Leading the strategic sales direction across both rural and commercial build projects
* Ensuring the business meets or exceeds financial, operational, and customer satisfaction targets
The role is also accountable for fostering a high‐performance culture focused on employee development and engagement, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. By optimising resources, managing budgets, and implementing effective procurement strategies, the General Manager will enhance profitability and support long‐term growth.
Additionally, this role plays a critical part in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client and supplier relationships, and leading Wheatbelt Steel toward innovation and market leadership.
