Primary objective
This position works collaboratively with medical, nursing, administrative and housekeeping staff to manage and maintain
equipment and consumable supplies across the Division of Surgery and Critical Care inpatient wards.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Maintain an adequate supply of consumables for surgical wards.
2. Maintain, prepare, and assemble wards equipment as required for the provision of critical care.
3. Maintain equipment to meet standards and documentation for accreditation.
4. Maintain the cleanliness of all surgical ward equipment and / or furnishings.
5. Assist in the compilation and tracking of capital equipment and minor new works programmes for the unit.
6. Participate in quality improvement activities for surgical wards.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Previous experience working in equipment and consumable management relevant to healthcare delivery, with knowledge
of the care and functioning of complex medical care equipment as well as clinical priorities, workflows, and processes
within the hospital setting.
1. Demonstrated organisational and management skills with the capacity to effectively prioritise workloads.
2. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with health care professionals from diverse
cultures, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.
4. Ability to work in a high acuity area, manage a stressful working environment and work independently without direct
supervision but seeking advice when necessary.
5. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team as a team member that supports productive working
relationships.
6. Demonstrated ability to correlate and provide data in regard to consumables and equipment within the Division.
7. Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and punctuality with ability to learn theoretical and manual requirements for the
provision of divisional services.
Desirable
1. Certificate III in Health Service Assistance or equivalent.
