Overview
The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a Sr. Network Design Engineer to perform network engineering, design, analysis and installation. This position will provide support for the customer's computer data communications network systems by providing engineering specifications, modifications and inspections for computer networks to include planning and implementing upgrades as well as analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software to design combined engineering solutions through network modeling.
Primary Responsibilities
* The Tier 2 network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
* Respond to and resolve incident tickets
* Draft and implement standard network change requests
* Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), and coordinate and install new equipment)
* Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory
* Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades
* Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, and thin configurations)
Basic Qualifications
* Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2
* Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals
* Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts
* Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes
* Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP))
* Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models
* Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade/Foundry OS
* Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE
* Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence
* Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products
* Up to 25% travel
* Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
* Security+ Certification
* Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4–6 years of prior relevant experience
