As the Senior Executive Officer in the Office of the Director-General, you will support the executive coordination and administrative functions that keep the Department's most senior office operating effectively. This role suits someone who is highly organised, discreet and adaptable, and who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, timing and sound judgement are essential. You will manage the core activities that underpin the Director-General's work, including overseeing a complex electronic diary, monitoring a high-volume inbox and ensuring urgent matters are addressed promptly. Your understanding of departmental activities, priorities and protocols will help you anticipate needs, provide informed advice and keep the Director-General and Director aware of emerging issues. You will also coordinate key documentation, including meeting briefs and materials for Cabinet and Parliamentary processes. You will arrange all travel and logistics for the Director-General, support governance responsibilities such as Right to Information processes, and ensure high-level documents are managed and delivered accurately across the organisation. Building strong relationships will be central to the role. You will support effective communication between the Office of the Director-General, senior leaders, ministerial offices and external stakeholders, while working closely with the departmental Executive Officer network to promote consistent and efficient practices. In this role, you will contribute to a collaborative and professional team environment, identify opportunities to improve administrative systems and ensure the office operates with the highest standards of integrity, discretion and confidentiality. Flexibility is important, as you will regularly adjust to changing priorities, take on additional responsibilities as needed and work and travel outside of normal working hours may be required.
