Job Overview
We are seeking two experienced reporters to cover the south-west Queensland region.
The successful applicants will be based in Charleville but spend most of their time in the field covering a vast area from Cameron Corner in the west, north to Blackall, and east to Roma.
As a journalist in this region, you will deliver news for local and national ABC radio and have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to film and present video stories for ABC 7PM news, News Channel, and Landline, as well as producing digital stories for Australia's most popular news website.
About the Role
* Find and tell compelling stories that reflect the unique character of western Queensland.
* Prepare and produce high-quality audio, video, digital, and social media content for local and national audiences.
* Build strong relationships with local community leaders and engage with stakeholders on behalf of the organization.
* Work independently and demonstrate initiative to chase stories and deliver content.
* Demonstrate creative ideas and bring innovative approaches to your work.
Requirements
* Genuine curiosity about regional stories and a strong understanding of issues important to local audiences.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent skills and experience.
* Creative approach to content creation with strong live presentation and broadcast skills.
* Strong editorial judgment with the ability to source, analyze, and verify information.
* Possession of a current and valid driver's license.
* Willingsness and flexibility to travel to regional and remote locations.
