Apprentice - Mechanical (Fitter) role at BAE Systems Australia. Mechanical Apprenticeship (Fitter) – Osborne. At BAE Systems Australia, the Hunter Class Frigate Program is under way at the Osborne Naval Shipyard.
We are now accepting applications for our 2026 apprenticeship program, commencing in February. It's an exciting time to join us and a great place to start a career in shipbuilding. As a Mechanical (Fitter) Apprentice you will gain practical experience in the shipyard while completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.
Key responsibilities
* Assist with removing, repairing and installing mechanical components and equipment.
* Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
* Use workshop machines to produce components.
* Apply health and safety processes in the workplace.
* Contribute to improving business culture with regards to people, process and systems.

* An ability to work individually and collaborate with others as part of a team.
* Effective communication, both written and verbal.
* Behaviours that demonstrate integrity, respect, and honesty.
* A positive outlook and enthusiasm to grow and develop in your chosen field.
* Initiative to problem solve and proactively engage in the tasks of your role.
* A demonstrated interest and understanding of becoming an apprentice in a highly sought-after trade.
