As we're now entering an exciting new era, expanding into the digital print market, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator and Designer to join the Opal Specialty Packaging team at our Rocklea, QLD site.
This is a great opportunity to expand your design capabilities whilst being part of a great team and working environment.You will contribute to the success of Opal by:Designing product packaging and basic graphics for visualisation and concept presentations, as well as products for custom applications.Supporting the creation of product illustrations, concept sketches, diagrams, design specifications and technical drawings (die lines).
Evaluating design ideas with consideration of appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.Providing day to day quoting support to our sales team membersContributing and participating in the tender process from initial quoting through to commercial analysisImproving customer margin by identifying cost savings opportunities on new and existing materialsBeing the key contact in various project work that requires quoting, costing and onboarding of customersWe are able to offer a varied career journey with experiential learning gained from cross-functional and lateral moves.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;Packaging design and estimating experienceThe ability to articulate and communicate creative ideas via concept sketching or verbal presentationsA good understanding of 3-dimensional form and spaceAbility to prepare accurate technical specifications (e.g. die lines) for quotation & manufacturingAbility to use CAD programs to create models & renderingsAbility to build physical models and prototypes to bring creative concepts to lifeAbility to work independently and prioritise with good time & project management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
