Shift Patterns
Full-Time Position
Monday to Sunday shift pattern availableDay shifts: 07:00 - 19:00Average: 72 hours per week
Part-Time Position
Flexible shifts available (days & nights)12-hour shiftsMust be flexible to cover both day and night shifts
Key Responsibilities
Provide a professional and approachable security presence at all timesCarry out internal and external patrols across the hospital siteMonitor CCTV systems in compliance with GDPR regulationsControl access and prevent unauthorised entryRespond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situationsAssist with evacuations and liaise with emergency services when requiredComplete incident reports and maintain accurate recordsConduct searches where required in line with proceduresManage keys, passes, and access control systemsSupport staff, patients, and visitors with guidance and assistanceEnsure fire exits and safety equipment are maintained and accessibleHandle disruptive behaviour and escort individuals off-site if necessary
Security Operations & Patrols
Car Park Patrols: Hourly checks for safety, parking compliance, and hazardsPerimeter Patrols: Every 2 hours to monitor access points and boundariesInternal Patrols (Night): Every 3 hours across wards and restricted areasEmergency Response: Immediate response to alarms or incidents
Car Park Duties
Direct traffic during busy periodsMaintain clear access for emergency vehiclesMonitor and report unsafe or illegal parkingAssist vulnerable or disabled visitorsReport damage, theft, or maintenance issues
Lock-Up & Unlock Duties
Officers are responsible for securing and opening key areas across the hospital site, including:
Nightly lock-up of departments, gates, entrances, and restricted zonesDaily unlocking of access points (typically from 05:30 hrs)Ensuring compliance with weekend and Bank Holiday procedures
NFC Patrol Scans Required
Night: 21:30 | 23:30 | 03:30 | 06:30Day: 09:30 | 11:30 | 15:30 | 19:30
Essential Requirements
Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding)Strong communication and customer service skillsAbility to remain calm under pressureFlexible and reliable approach to shift workAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysically able to carry out patrol duties
Desirable Skills
Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environmentFirst Aid qualificationExperience using CCTV and access control systems
