IES is looking for a best-in-class Software Development Engineer to join the team in Sydney, Australia. The team works on the AWS global network to build and operate global decision making traffic optimization solutions, delivering network experiences that delight our customers. Our goals are to simplify the internet, control traffic and improve performance for customers with minimal human interaction. You will join a team that's instrumental in driving the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks, discovering innovative ways to automate and scale services as we grow. Key job responsibilities * Develop best in class software systems for automating Amazon's network * Provide technical direction to the team and identify areas of focus * Create and review software design documentation and mentor junior engineers * Collaborate with the Network Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products * Operate the software you're putting into production * Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc * Collaborate with the Network Engineering and Operations teams to automate and invent new ways of operating Amazon's Internet Network A day in the life A Software Development Engineer in IES has a wide range of responsibilities related to global scale traffic optmiziation for our customers. The solutions we build and operate move terabits of traffic to and from the Internet at any given moment. It requires complex solutions to ensure that capacity always stays ahead of demand. Our engineers develop algorithms and build solutions along side with our partner teams. Making decisions on both a day-to-day and long-term strategic basis, which carries a large amount of responsibility and impact across all of Amazon's products.
