Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to support a newly secured Victorian Government services portfolio located within a significant civic precinct in East Melbourne. In this hands-on role, you will deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across essential public facilities, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work collaboratively with BGIS teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to meet contract KPIs while maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This opportunity suits a qualified, safety-focused electrician who values teamwork, steady workmanship, and contributing to important community infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance including emergency lighting, switchboards, and high-voltage systems Complete work orders within required service timeframes Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in line with qualifications and standards Mentor and support apprentices and assist fellow technicians as required Oversee and coordinate subcontractors when engaged on site Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours support Maintain compliance with WHSE, QMS, OH&S and EMS systems Foster respectful, professional relationships with stakeholders across the precinct Education, Experience & Skills Essential: 1–5 years’ experience in an electrical maintenance environment (all levels encouraged to apply) Certificate III in Electrotechnology Qualified Supervisors Licence White Card (General Construction Induction Card) Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability Clear communication skills and customer-focused approach Desirable: Experience mentoring apprentices Experience managing subcontractors in facilities or building environments Exposure to commercial or government property portfolios What’s Provided Potential Car Allowance Phone, uniforms and PPE Paid training including EWP, First Aid, Working at Heights and more Stable, long-term government portfolio Workplace Flexibility This position is fully site-based in East Melbourne, supporting a key Victorian Government precinct.
