Join Mercedes College as a Laboratory Technician

Mercedes College, a leading Catholic school in South Australia, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our vibrant Science Department for a fix term contract for Semester 1 – 2026 (January – July).
The Role
As our Laboratory Technician, you'll be at the heart of our science labs—preparing equipment and materials, supporting practical activities, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and innovation. You'll:
* Prepare and manage scientific equipment, hazardous solutions, and materials for exciting experiments.
* Demonstrate experiments and laboratory techniques, guiding students through hands‑on learning.
* Develop and implement safe operating procedures and risk assessments.
* Care for flora and fauna, and ensure compliance with government reporting.
* Maintain and calibrate complex scientific equipment.
* Plan and schedule science facilities, and collaborate with teaching staff for optimal learning experiences.
* Champion Work Health & Safety standards, ensuring a safe and inspiring environment for all.
What We're Looking For
* A Diploma of Laboratory Technology (or equivalent), or relevant experience in a similar role.
* High‑level practical laboratory skills and a passion for science education.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and computing skills.
* Commitment to upholding the Catholic ethos and safeguarding values of Mercedes College.
* Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and First Aid qualifications.
