Position: Market Manager for Adelaide Hills Farmers Market

21 hours per week

The Adelaide Hills Farmers Market located in the heart of Mt Barker is a not-for-profit organization with a governing committee and has been running for 16 years. Its aim is to support SA producers and value adding stall holders and to supply local customers with fresh produce in a friendly environment. We are searching for a Market Manager to administer and promote the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market. In working with the committee staff and volunteers, the Market manager's responsibility is to ensure the management of operations of the weekly Market and achieve its longer-term strategic directions.

Key duties include: customer service and communication, events management, staff and stakeholder engagement, marketing and promotions, project management, financial management, governance, reporting and administration;

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

The ideal person for this role will have a passion for farmers markets and is likely to have:

· Demonstrated management experience,

· A working knowledge of WHS within the work place as it applies to Farmers Markets.

· Knowledge of Farmers markets and the local producers network in the Adelaide Hills

· Marketing and promotions

Essential skills

· Excellent skills in verbal, electronic and written communications, and competent in social media communications

· Proven ability and enthusiasm for developing and maintaining relationships with stall holders, vendors, customers and other members of the public.

· Competence in or willingness to learn administrative software packages such as google workspace, Word press, Xero, Canva, square, Xero and meta business suite.

· Knowledge and understanding of financial processes and grant applications

· Basic understanding of financial management is required.

· Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and cooperatively as part of a team

· Demonstrated ability to recognize and effectively handle situations of conflict and implement solutions that are mutually acceptable.

· Ability to supervise staff and volunteers and to collaborate with the committee

Individual requirements:

· Current and valid driver's license is essential

· A current police check or willingness to apply for Working with children, disability or vulnerable people.

· A willingness to work regular Saturday Markets and some additional after-hours work may be required, including attendance at committee meetings.
