Primary objective
Work collaboratively across the branch, division, agency and with stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality community
engagement, that supports and positively impacts the division to deliver and promote events and/or programs aimed at informing,
educating and promoting sport and active recreation activities across the NT and, when appropriate, at the national level.
Context statement
Sport, Recreation and Strategic Infrastructure Division engages with the sector in a variety of ways. This multi-faceted position
works closely with all areas of the division to deliver a range of events, communication, media, engagement and educational
activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and manage the planning, organisation and delivery of the division’s communications and engagement functions in
collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Manage programmed events, including the annual NT Sports Awards, and ad hoc promotional activities to showcase and
highlight the Northern Territories sport and active recreation sectors’ achievements, programs and services.
3. Develop and deliver events and information sharing activities, and/or innovative, high-quality and effective online and outreach
engagement materials and tools, using a variety of mediums aligned to sport and recreation objectives.
4. Actively engage with internal and external sector stakeholders to develop and maintain strong relationships, including
representing the Department on key stakeholder groups and committees concerned with achieving Government objectives.
5. Actively monitor and evaluate media, communications, event service delivery and educational activities.
6. Prepare and/or contribute information of high quality, comprehensive and timely updates, general correspondence, briefings,
reports, publications, submissions and Ministerial briefings relating to community engagement, promotion of sport and
recreation, programs, services, event delivery or education development matters.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience successfully managing high-level and quality events, activities and associated correspondence.
2. Demonstrated experience in supporting, educating and engaging communities via innovative activities that build awareness and
contribute to increased sport and recreation participation.
3. Demonstrated experience in data and information management, tracking, analysis and reporting, and expenditure tracking,
analysis and reporting.
4. Previous project management experience with proven record of delivering high quality outcomes.
5. Demonstrated experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality customer services in a high-
pressured environment.
6. Experience and proficiency in the use of computer software packages covering Microsoft Office, databases, website and social
media applications to provide and promote information and resources to stakeholders.
7. Experience in working in a cross cultural and/or regional or remote sport and active recreation environment.
Desirable
1. Degree, Diploma or Certificate qualification in marketing, event management, public relations or communications or other
relevant discipline.
2. Experience working with volunteers in an event delivery context.
3. Industry or sector experience in sport and recreation.
