Your New Role
Classroom and learning support (CLS) is a dedicated service that provides a range of resources and assistance to students with disabilities and additional learning needs. It aims to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential. CLS staff work closely with classroom teachers to identify and address students' needs, providing tailored support and strategies. This may include direct instruction, small group work, assistive technology, and behavior management techniques. CLS also offers professional development to teachers, helping them implement effective inclusive practices.
* Assist teachers and students in and outside the Learning Spaces
* Assist with the supervision of small groups and/or individual students on activities, as directed by the teacher
* Undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups of students under the guidance of the teacher
* Toileting and supervising students during break times (on a shared roster)
* Support the students and/or teachers in the use of technology
* Assist students with physical, medical or mobility challenges

Essential Criteria
* Demonstrated commitment to the ethos of the Catholic Church
* Proven communication and interpersonal skills with both staff and students
* Certificate III/IV in Education Support, or currently working towards this qualification or University Teacher Training
* Ability to work within a whole school team to support individuals and small group wellbeing needs including positive behavioral strategies and targeted school wide approaches
* Experience working with students across a range of disabilities and from diverse backgrounds
* Willingness to assist students with physical, mobility and personal care challenges and support these students in the classroom and playground
* Ability to work as part of a team and work flexibly across a range of learning environments and contribute positively to professional culture
* Undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups under the guidance of the teacher
* First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
* Accreditation for Support Staff in a Catholic School (Category A, Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools, Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga) or working towards Accreditation.
* Successful candidate to undergo a National Criminal History Check
* NSW Working with Children Check
Desirable Criteria
* An understanding of general educational systems and pedagogical approaches
* Proven capacity to work as part of a team and be adaptable and flexible
* Proven capacity to work independently
* Proven capacity to work with students with additional learning needs and disabilities
* Experience with intervention programs, MiniLit, MacqLIt and Maths Intervention programs
* Experience with Zones of Regulation programs and Positive Behaviours for Learning frameworks
