Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Restaurant Manager to lead our Guzman Y Gomez restaurant in Hendon, Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a dynamic fast-casual dining establishment, where you will drive operational excellence, foster a collaborative team environment, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. The successful candidate will be instrumental in achieving our business objectives whilst maintaining the highest standards of service and food quality.
* Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of staff members, fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture
* Oversee all daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring efficient and seamless service delivery
* Manage financial performance through budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimisation, whilst maintaining profitability targets
* Maintain rigorous health, safety, and hygiene standards in compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies
* Monitor inventory levels, manage stock ordering, and minimise wastage through effective stock control procedures
* Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty
* Train and mentor staff members on service standards, product knowledge, and company procedures through comprehensive induction and ongoing development programmes
* Analyse sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, implement improvements, and drive business growth
* Collaborate with head office and other departments to implement new initiatives, promotions, and operational improvements
* Ensure the restaurant maintains its brand standards and visual presentation at all times
* Schedule staff effectively to meet operational demands whilst considering individual circumstances and flexibility requirements
* Conduct regular appraisals and provide constructive feedback to support staff career progression
Qualifications
**Required Skills and Experience:**
* Minimum 2–3 years' proven experience in restaurant or fast-casual dining management
* Demonstrated expertise in staff leadership, team management, and people skills
* Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost management, and P&L responsibility
* Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software
* Excellent organisational and time-keeping abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with staff and customers
* Problem-solving mindset with strong decision-making capabilities
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food safety compliance
**Desirable Skills and Experience:**
* Previous experience working with Guzman Y Gomez or similar Mexican/Latin cuisine establishments
* Familiarity with fast-casual dining operations and menu offerings
* Experience in staff training, development, and performance management
* Knowledge of marketing and promotional activities to drive customer engagement
* Experience with inventory management systems and stock control procedures
**Education and Certifications:**
* Food Safety Certification or equivalent qualification (desirable)
* Hospitality Management qualification or relevant qualification in a related field (desirable)
