Child focused psychologist wanting long term stability

Therapy House
Psychologist
Posted: 20 December
Offer description

About us

Private practices can be busy, with a high turn over of staff and clients. Our passion is trying to slow down where possible and provide long term and continuous care to our clients. We take pride in the homely feel of our practice, and our team culture of quirky, diverse and passionate people.

Therapy House is a clinic located in Brisbane's leafy suburb, The Gap, only 8km away from the city centre. We have collected years of wisdom on what makes for a pleasant workplace, our team coming from a variety of different backgrounds. We are committed to making our space one of a kind, for our clinicians and clients. The clinic offers therapy and assessment to children, adolescents, adults, and couples.

We understand that working as a clinician can be a solitary and isolating experience, and don't want this to happen to our practitioners. Our team supports each other with routine meetings and opportunities to have collegial recreational activities.

About the role

We are looking for a confident psychologist who is particularly passionate about working with children under 10 years to join the team to support our client base. We are really looking for somebody who is passionate and driven by stability as clinicians have expressed more fulfilment in their work when they trust their team and work long term with clients.

While our practice does service teens and adults as well, and some variety can be given to practitioner who has varied interests, we are looking for someone who has a primary interest in working with children and their families. Thus, experience in this domain as well as a strong understanding of neurodevelopmental and educational assessments is necessary. Our client base includes self-referred individuals and families, those referred under mental health care and other GP referred plans, and both plan and self-managed NDIS clients.

We are looking for a clinician who has capacity work up to 3 days a week. Our clinic predominately provides clients sessions between 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday. We are looking for a practitioner available from January 2026.

Why work with us?

We understand that working as a solo clinician can be an isolating experience, and know many clinicians enjoy autonomy but don't want to be an island At Therapy House we offer engagement with clinicians under a variety of models including direct employment, and service agreements (offering room rental and admin services). Thus, depending on factors such as your life stage, clinical preferences, and preference with completing administrative tasks independently or with support, we can develop a model that uniquely works for each of our practitioners.

What we offer that is unique?

* We highly value team connection and try to align calendars to allow for staff overlap during breaks.
* Large kitchen and break room which looks out to the relaxing backdrop of Mt Coot-tha.
* Regular peer supervision and social clinic events.
* Consistent positive feedback from our clients relating to our clinic space. We find that many children and adults feel more relaxed coming into a waiting room that feels like home to staff and clients.
* Dimmable lights, sit and stand desks in all rooms.
* All rooms have been soundproof to a high standard.

About you:

We encourage applications from Generally Registered and Endorsed Psychologists who are passionate about work with children and families.

We would love team members who love to be a part of a team and share our values and respect our team culture.

Experience at private practice, or keen interest in working at private practice.

Commitment to communicate effectively with clients, referrers, and other healthcare providers via regular reporting as per Medicare, NDIS and registration body guidelines, and documentation via case notes is necessary.

Please forward your Expression of Interest including a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) to both these emails: and

In your cover letter to us, please state your preferred work model (i.e., employee, service agreement or room rental), your preferred work days and hours, the age range of clients that you are looking to engage with, and clinical areas of interest and expertise.
