We are an Australian owned sugar milling and refining company operates 3 sugar mills and a refinery in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Identified as one of the largest agricultural and manufacturing sectors in the region, employing over 350 people directly and a further 2500 indirectly to support the local industry. The region, known for its stunning beaches, rivers, fishing and natural wonders extends across seven shires including Tweed, Byron Bay, Ballina and the Clarence Valley. Condong is situated on the Tweed River, 5km from Murwillumbah.
The role:
We are looking for a process operator to join the Condong production team on the Filter Evaporator Station. This role is responsible for the operation of the evaporator vessels, juice clarifier and mud handling equipment in a food factory producing raw sugar.
The evaporator station equipment incorporates numerous vacuum vessels (evaporators), numerous pumps of differing designs, a mud handling plant and other sugar cane juice processing equipment.
Full training will be provided.
Reporting to the shift supervisor, the evaporator station operator will:
* prioritise, monitor and control the operation of the evaporators, juice clarifier and mud handling equipment
* maintain the required processing conditions to achieve consistent production of concentrated cane juice
* Meet production targets while upholding safe operating procedures
* operate a range of equipment (vacuum vessels, pumps, processing systems)
This position works on a 4 on 4 off rotating shift roster during the crushing season (June to December). During the maintenance season (January - June), the successful candidate will work a 9 day fortnight on day work.
An attractive remuneration package including 5 weeks annual leave is offered with the position.
We are looking for:
* Previous experience operating process equipment in a food or manufacturing facility (desired, not essential)
* Mechanical aptitude
* High level reasoning ability and able to make decisions based on judgement and skill
* High level communication skills both written and verbal
* The ability to monitor and control several processes simultaneously
* Initiative and demonstrated ability to learn
* General computer skills, including the use of a computerised operator interface to control process equipment (or ability to learn)
* Flexibility to work rotating shift roster and be available for overtime
