Opportunity
We are hiring a Specialist (equivalent to a Consultant/Senior Consultant in Big4 consulting) to join our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) team in Perth (or Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane). The role is based in Perth and is suitable for candidates who can work across Ashurst offices.
Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic ESG and risk solutions for clients.
- Maintain Ashurst and client relationships and contribute to business development and growth of the Risk Advisory practice and ESG team in Australia.
- Advise clients on development and implementation of strategic planning and ESG risk frameworks.
- Assess risk programs, review sustainability-related governance frameworks, and design and implement compliance programs.
- Engage in projects related to leadership in sustainability, energy transition, and related areas; experience in native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage or land access approvals is highly desirable.
Qualifications and Experience
- 2-5 years of specialised ESG/sustainability experience, ideally within a respected consulting or private practice legal environment.
- Familiarity with common tools, frameworks, and standards in ESG/sustainability.
- Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment; proactive, confident, and collaborative.
- Proven experience delivering high-quality work for clients and stakeholders, including sustainability programs and projects such as environmental and climate change strategy or Traditional Owner engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail; experience producing reports, letters, and proposals.
- Willingness to take on greater responsibility and engage in client interaction and business development.
