The role
Location: Townsville
Aurizon's Townsville depot team is seeking a safety focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join them on a full time permanent basis. This role will see you operating various types of mobile equipment, such as forklifts, reach stackers, front end loader, excavator.
- Rotating roster of Dayshift & Nightshift and weekend shifts as well as opportunity for overtime.
- Permanent full time residential position with Australia's Largest Freight Operator.
About the role:
- Operate various mobile equipment ranging from 3 tonne forklifts up to 45 tonne reach stackers.
- Loading and unloading of various containerised/palletised freight for trucks and rail line.
- Communicate effectively via two-way radios with team members and coordinator.
- Conduct relevant pre-start vehicle checks for operating machinery
- Perform general terminal duties as directed including computer work and minor servicing of equipment
About you:
- Must hold a current High Risk Forklift licence (LF)
- High Risk Reach Stacker Ticket (RS) (preferred)
- HC or MC licence (preferred but no essential)
- Front end loader/Skid steer/Excavator (preferred but not essential)
- C Class driver's licence
- Previous experience in forklift operations (Container operations preferred)
- Ability to carry out routine container movements using a forklift (50 + movements per day)
- Ability to use tablet accurately
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to zero harm
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays
