Location: Epworth Hospital, Waurn Ponds

Employment Type: Casual (with a view for part-time)

Hours: Flexible between 8:30am-5:30pm Mon-Fri (must be available Friday).

No weekends or public holidays.

Rate: $35 to $40/per hour (commensurate to experience)

Type: On-site (No remote option)

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Casual Medical Secretary to join our busy and expanding Ophthalmology Clinic. The role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a patient-focused medical environment.

About the Role

You will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing high-quality administrative support and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.

Training will be provided for ophthalmic-specific systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities


• Welcoming patients and managing front desk reception


• Scheduling appointments and clinician diaries


• Answering phone calls and responding to enquiries


• Handling billing, Medicare/DVA/EFTPOS payments


• Preparing and maintaining patient records and correspondence


• Liaising with clinicians, hospitals, and other medical practices


• General administration and clerical duties


• Audio-typing

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:


• Previous experience as a medical receptionist/secretary (preferred)


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail


• Ability to multitask in a busy clinic environment


• Professional presentation and a caring, patient-focused attitude


• Confidence using computer systems and practice management software

(Genie experience highly regarded)
