Overview
A full-time general practitioner is required to undertake a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to manage illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide education and training and encourage community health action. The position is located in Newman.
The Practice
The practice aims to provide the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness. The scope of the term 'holistic' includes the development, promotion and maintenance of the physical, spiritual, social, economic and cultural well-being of all our indigenous people.
The health team exists to promote the health and well-being of individual community members and to relieve sickness and the suffering of the indigenous community as a whole. Inherent to this philosophy is the principle that indigenous people must be able to determine and control all aspects of change and decision making at all levels of health care, ensuring that as individuals they are provided with information that enables them to make informed choices, not only for individual care, but also for collective health care within their community.
With good supports and collegiate networks available including visiting specialists, this role is integral to ensuring clinical leadership, cultural integrity and high standards of clinical care.
