About the job

The Web Applications Developer (Research Assistant) will support the development, maintenance, and optimisation of web-based database management systems using the .Net platform. This includes working closely with researchers and statisticians to deliver fit-for-purpose systems that enable secure, efficient, and accurate data capture, management, and reporting.

Reporting to the UHR Statistician you will:

* Web Applications & Database Development: Design, build, and maintain SQL databases and web applications (including RPMS) to support Orygen's research projects, with a focus on UHR systems.
* System Usability & Accessibility: Ensure front-end interfaces meet functional, usability, and responsive design standards across devices and platforms.
* Data Quality & Integrity: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data issues while ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with research requirements.
* Research & Analysis Support: Prepare datasets, generate reports, and contribute to data analysis and visualisation in collaboration with researchers and statisticians.
* Collaboration & Organisational Contribution: Engage with staff, students, and partners, foster positive relationships, and actively participate in team and organisational initiatives.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

* An appropriate tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Knowledge of and experience using the RPMS is essential.
* Strong knowledge and experience in .NET (4.0 and Core) Web development with HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and Bootstrap.
* Working experience using Azure DevOps and GIT.
* Solid knowledge and experience in SQL/Relational databases - Microsoft SQL Server.
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated attention to detail, and proven ability to deliver consistently high standards of professional communications.
