Silkwood School is seeking an experienced Choral Director to deliver high‑quality choral programs for the 2026 school year. The successful provider will work collaboratively with the Music Coordinator and Real World Learning Leaders to create joyful, inclusive singing experiences that align with the school’s values (The Silkwood Way). Most likely to be on Friday afternoons for a minimum of 2 hours a week with extra hours available for community performances and Eisteddfods.
Program Delivery
* Direct and rehearse weekly with choirs:
Sparrows (Years 1–3), Hummingbirds (Years 4–6), and Senior Performance Group (Years 7–12). (Accompanist provided)
* Teach healthy vocal technique, ensemble skills, and age-appropriate performance craft
* Foster positive, joyful singing environments
Performances & Eisteddfods
* Prepare choirs for performances at eisteddfods, termly school festivals, bi-annual concerts, and community events
* Support simple staging and performance readiness
* Coordinate repertoire, logistics and uniforms in collaboration with the music team
3. Qualifications & Experience
* Registered teacher preferred but not essential
* Experience directing children’s or youth choirs
* Strong knowledge of vocal pedagogy for developing voices
* Ability to work with both small and large groups
* Experience at Eisteddfod preferred
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Public Liability Insurance (min. $10m)
