About Hireup
At Hireup, you'll become a critical part of an exciting team. Whether it's support with personal care, getting to work or catching a footy game, we give individuals the tools and technology to pursue a good life on their own terms – a life of choice, independence and control.
Responsibilities
The support you will provide to someone with complex support needs varies for each person. Support needs and goals are directed by the person or their informal supports. Implement safe and effective infection control, identify risk and work within the parameters of your role. They may include:
* Transport to appointments
* Shopping
* Personal care
* Reading and implementing complex support plans
* Support with social and community connections
* Requirements for complex support such as managing crisis and assisting clients to access their professional networks
Hours / Days of Work
Hireup promotes flexibility in agreement with the individual or family you are working with. Hours and days of work will vary and will be dependent on what the client requires. No shift is the same.
Skills Required
* Experience in Mental Health, specifically in community services
* Passion for mental health support and a solid understanding of the challenges for people living with a psychosocial disability
* Experience and passion in the delivery of recovery‐oriented practices with a community and non‐clinical approach
* Confidence in identifying risk and reporting to our support office team
* Trauma‐informed with a good understanding of the impacts on a person living with complex trauma
* Skill in supporting individuals that may experience suicide ideation or reach crisis
* Good understanding of psychosocial disability under the NDIS
* High communication skills, with an ability to adapt communication styles to suit individuals
* Capacity to work independently in challenging environments
* Strong active listening and negotiation skills to resolve any issues and provide a positive support experience
* Strong understanding of self‐care and professional boundaries
* Adaptability, resilience, transparency, and trustworthiness, with a focus on making positive human connections
Preferences for a lived or living experience are highly regarded. Experience in aged care, mental health support, personal care, residential or community support, social work, youth work, nursing, or similar roles would be advantageous.
