Project Officer

About the role

Perform project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives.

The Public Private Partnership (PPP) team manages the Department's long-term PPP school contracts, ensuring facilities, maintenance, cleaning, lifecycle works, and support services meet contractual obligations, performance standards, and school operational needs. The team oversees contractor performance, variations, abatements, minor works, risk, and compliance management, collaborating with schools, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve disputes, delivery value for money, and maintain safe, functional, and sustainable learning environments across the PPP portfolio.

The Project Officer supports daily PPP contract management by coordinating maintenance and minor works, monitoring contractor performance, assessing service issues, preparing reports and contract documents, and engaging stakeholders to achieve operational outcomes aligned with contractual, commercial, and departmental requirements.

About you
* Experience in coordinating projects, maintenance programs, facilities work, or operational service delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in complex stakeholder environments.
* Exposure to contract management processes.
* Strong written communication skills.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check. As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.

Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens or a valid work visa). Ongoing (permanent) roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, while temporary roles welcome applicants with a visa.
