Overview

This is for a permanent or fixed term full time appointment at 76 hours per fortnight with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Part time hours may be considered. Join the Geraldton APU – Where Healing Meets Innovation. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the team at the new Geraldton Health Campus Redevelopment in the Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service (MMH & CADS). The Geraldton Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) is building a multidisciplinary team grounded in trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally safe care.

About This Role

Responsible for the overall coordination, planning, delivery and evaluation of a culturally safe and patient-focused Occupational Therapy program in the Geraldton APU. Provides advanced level assessment, treatment, planning and therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups. Plans and facilitates client activities in collaboration with other multidisciplinary team staff of the APU. Provides support and supervision to the Occupational Therapist and Therapy Assistant.

Area Profile

The Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 600,000 square kilometres, with its population concentrated along the coast. The Midwest includes Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison health districts. The Geraldton Health Campus redevelopment delivers an expanded emergency department, a new ICU and high dependency unit, an integrated mental health service, and a reconfigured main entry.

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Other Conditions

WA Health requires criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and ethical behaviour. Completion of a satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) is required. An unsatisfactory PEHA may result in withdrawal of the offer.
