Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paralegal to join our team in the Aboriginal Child and Family Advocacy and Support practice. As a key member of our supportive and passionate team, you will provide exceptional legal support to Aboriginal clients.
Main Responsibilities:
* Support solicitors by managing caseloads, attending court, drafting legal documents, conducting research, and assisting in client interviews.
* Liaise with agencies and contribute to law reform initiatives.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Respect Aboriginal cultural practices.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must:
* Identify as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander.
* Hold formal paralegal qualifications or be currently undertaking a Law Degree.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Have familiarity with support and referral services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in the Care and Protection system.
* Show ability to prepare and deliver Community Legal Education and effectively liaise with government and non-government agencies.
* Demonstrate strong research, problem-solving, and administrative abilities.
* Hold a current NSW/ACT driver's license.
