About the Role
Meeka Metals Limited (MEK) has just built Western Australia's newest gold mine, and key to our success is securing an experienced Underground Manager to join our mining team at our Murchison Gold Project, 50 kms north of Meekatharra.
The project is a combined open pit and underground gold mining operation with an initial 10‐year mine life. Open‐pit mining commenced in March 2025 and underground mining commenced in July 2025. A second underground will start in 2026.
The role is offered on an 8‐days‐on, 6‐days‐off roster, FIFO from Perth.
Full accountability for managing mine planning, geotechnical engineering, mine surveying and project analysis whilst ensuring safety and production targets are met and continuous improvement is achieved.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the mine planning function including development of the reserve calculations, LOM plans, mine budget and short‐ and long‐term schedules.
* Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote safety, health, environmental and housekeeping awareness.
* Successfully execute the plan on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and report on variances to the plan.
* Monitor and drive productivity, cost, safety and QA/QC outcomes against business KPIs.
* Ensure the development and maintenance of up‐to‐date job procedures for all tasks performed within the team.
* Contribute to a continuous planning process that focuses on resource optimisation, management planning and control processes and maximisation of value.
* Develop technical solutions and innovations to assist in the sustainable achievement of targets.
* Promote a high‐performance, accountable and safety‐driven culture.
* Ensure compliance with MEK safety policies, The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 as well as other appropriate legislation.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
* +8 years' experience in underground mining operations and practices.
* Direct working experience in narrow‐vein mechanised mining.
* Underground Managers Certificate of Competency.
* Site Senior Executive Certificate of Competency (desirable).
* Strategic thinker when it comes to forward planning, risk management, risk mitigation and business improvements.
* Solid technical and working knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Proficient in mining planning software (Deswik).
