Covering a large geographical area, work from Bendigo, Broadmeadows or Preston. The role requires significant travel throughout the North West region of Victoria. This is a part-time position that joins the Housing First Program.
Working location and travel requirements: You can work from an office in any of 3 locations, Bendigo, Broadmeadows or Preston. Hybrid working is also available. You will support young people throughout North and West Victoria including Mildura as well as Melbourne. For trips to Mildura you are required to stay overnight. Pool cars are available for use.
Role context
Anglicare Victoria proudly advertises the Tenancy Support Role as part of the Housing First initiative. This five-year program provides wrap-around housing support for young people leaving care. It will be delivered in North and West Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne. This is a bespoke program in Victoria for young people leaving care, and Anglicare is proud to deliver the first of its kind in Australia.
This position is in the Youth and Community Services and is part time, 4 days per week, fixed term to February 2027. It involves supporting young people transitioning from residential care services to independent housing provided by Home Victoria. You will need to actively engage with young people who require support and education to maintain their tenancies, under a hybrid work arrangement that includes travel.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialised tenancy advice, which will encourage young people to strengthen their knowledge of the Tenancy Act and advocate for themselves proactively in matters of rentals and housing.
* Be responsible for providing expert knowledge to ensure that tenants receive the necessary assistance and resources to maintain a safe, affordable, and successful tenancy.
* Be familiar with the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), and able to liaise with Housing Victoria and other relevant stakeholders.
* Understand the Residential Care Model and the nuanced work required to assist young people participating in this program.
* Be trauma-informed and knowledgeable about, or willing to learn, the Advantage Thinking model.
* Have experience with tenancy support in public or private housing systems.
Qualifications
This is a level 5 role working under the SCHCADS award and as such we require tertiary level qualifications, minimum diploma level to be considered.
