About the Role

Inclusive Educators provide proactive, targeted and intensive services to preschools and schools to support children and young people with additional needs, including disability, sensory impairment, developmental delay, complex health needs, communication difficulties, learning difficulties, disengagement or non‐attendance, and unsafe and/or unproductive behaviours. They work collaboratively with educators, leaders and families to establish optimal learning environments, strengthen differentiated and evidence‐based teaching practices, and implement appropriate supports and adjustments that enable children and young people to engage, participate and succeed in education.

A critical aspect of the role is promoting inclusive environments that support engagement, participation and positive outcomes for all learners. This includes contributing to transition planning, referrals, eligibility and placement considerations, and supporting access to specialised education options where required.

Working with a range of key partners, Inclusive Educators collaborate with schools, preschools, families, local education teams, internal services and external agencies to ensure coordinated, high‐quality support for children and young people with additional needs.

As part of the multidisciplinary Student Support Services (SSS) team, Inclusive Educators provide targeted intervention, coaching and consultation to build educator capacity, improve teaching practice, support transitions, coordinate referrals, and strengthen inclusive learning outcomes across educational settings.
