Overview
Lead GenAI Systems Engineer role at AustralianSuper. Permanent, full-time position with a flexible, hybrid working environment. Deliver AI-powered solutions that transform the experience for employees and for millions of members.
What You'll Do
* Lead GenAI platforms and solutions across the lifecycle: discovery, problem framing, feasibility assessment, solution design, prototyping, pilots, productionisation, and post-implementation benefit tracking.
* Define and enforce coding, prompting, and evaluation standards for LLMs and multimodal models; guide AI engineers on scalable architectures (RAG, fine-tuning, vector databases, orchestration) and evaluation methodologies.
* Champion best practices in AI systems engineering, ensure secure and ethical deployment of AI models, and manage AI infrastructure assets.
* Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to embed AI into core business processes; lead a team in a cloud, containerized environment with prompt engineering and model operations.
* Lead governance, quality assurance, and responsible AI controls; assess and communicate AI governance and risks for emerging AI products and technologies.
What You'll Need
* Proven experience leading teams or projects in GenAI or advanced machine learning systems within enterprise environments.
* Experience establishing governance and quality assurance processes for GenAI solutions, including responsible AI controls.
* Strong understanding of AI governance and risk management; ability to review and assess risks of emerging AI products and technologies.
* Strong background in AI infrastructure management (cloud/on-prem), model operations, and lifecycle management; hands-on experience with AI cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
* Advanced programming skills in Python and familiarity with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers).
* Experience with MLOps/AIOps, AI model lifecycle management, monitoring, and governance frameworks.
* Ability to develop and implement AI continuity, disaster recovery, and compliance frameworks with a commitment to ethical AI practices.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate complex AI concepts for diverse audiences.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure, ITIL) and experience in financial services or global organisations are highly regarded.
