Job Description
The role of Youth Support Worker plays a crucial part in supporting young people who access recovery services.
* Support young individuals to access suitable resources within the recovery and community settings.
* Participate in initial meetings and assessments to understand the needs of young people.
* Contribute to developing functional recovery and life skills activities, as well as building relationships with peers.
* Represent the youth support workforce at clinical reviews and other meetings as necessary.
* Engage with health and welfare agencies, along with the general community, to promote recovery services.
This position operates over 3 days across a 7-day rotating schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support young individuals in accessing appropriate resources within the recovery and community settings.
* Participate in initial meetings and assessments to understand the needs of young people.
* Develop and implement functional recovery and life skills activities, as well as building relationships with peers.
* Represent the youth support workforce at clinical reviews and other meetings as necessary.
* Engage with health and welfare agencies, along with the general community, to promote recovery services.
Requirements:
* Aged between 18 and 30 years for duration of employment.
* Personal experience of challenges related to mental health, physical health, alcohol, and other substances.
* Knowledge and understanding of frameworks promoting early intervention, de-stigmatisation, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
* Experience or knowledge of peer work and youth participation principles.
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills to engage warmly and effectively with young individuals, build relationships, and partnerships.
