Shade Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Leading Hand to join our talented team in South Guildford, Western Australia. As a Leading Hand, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our construction projects. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work for a growing and respected shade construction company.
What you'll be doing
- Supervise and coordinate the work of a small team of technicians, riggers and labourers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Allocate tasks and resources, monitor progress, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise
- Ordering of materials for jobs and stock control
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the team to develop their skills and expertise
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute construction projects
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the projects
- Assisting in scheduling of works in Simpro
What we're looking for
- Significant experience (minimum 4 years) as a Leading Hand in the building and construction industry
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and provide guidance and support
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with team members, clients, and other stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address issues that may arise on-site
- Proficient in using Simpro or similar project management software
- Current driver\'s licence and construction safety training (e.g., White Card) are essential
