Primary objective
Assist students in achieving successful educational outcomes and high-level attendance through strong communication and working with
families, staff, school community members and appropriate service agencies.
Context statement
Sadadeen Primary School is a unique urban primary school catering for students from Preschool to Year 6. 95% of the students who attend
Sadadeen are Aboriginal, with many language groups represented. Positive engagement of student learning is enhanced by a focus on the
creative arts, child-centred practice across the school and working actively with our school community and relevant agencies in the wider
community to deliver programs supporting the wellbeing of our students. Sadadeen School supports cultural diversity and understanding.
Sadadeen school encompasses the primary school, two preschools, one onsite and one offsite and the KITES program.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. To establish and support effective communication and partnerships between the school, families, staff, outside and government
agencies to support and actively engage all students to achieve educational outcomes, maximising attendance, and notification of
unexplained absences.
1. To liaise with parents, carers, students and staff regarding student engagement and attendance, ensuring all parties are aware of their
obligations, and that accurate attendance records, returns and files are maintained.
1. To visit homes in cases involving students who are experiencing difficulty with aspects of their schooling, assisting, and supporting
students and their families to overcome barriers and increase attendance and engagement.
1. To work collaboratively with families and / or students, where necessary referring to appropriate support agencies.
2. Work within Inclusive Practices Team to support the delivery of student social and emotional learning and inclusion in classroom
learning,
6. Provide administrative and support services in keeping with the primary objective of the position, preparing reports on request for the
principal or delegate.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to communicate effectively with students and their families and develop community networks and partnerships with
stakeholders to improve student attendance and retention.
2. Proven capacity to work effectively in a politically and culturally sensitive environment, managing confidentiality.
1. Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team to assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of
strategies and programs to positively contribute tolearning outcomes.
4. Comprehensive understanding of student issues, knowledge and culture that surround students at risk of disengagement.
5. Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks in a set time frame, be self-motivated and exercise initiative.
