The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS) is one of Australia's most prestigious private members' sailing clubs, located on the stunning foreshore of Sydney Harbour. Known for delivering exceptional experiences both on and off the water, RSYS hosts a diverse calendar of premium member events, regattas, celebrations, corporate functions and member experiences throughout the year.
The Opportunity
This role will suit someone who is energised by delivering outstanding experiences and keeping a dynamic events calendar full year-round. You will proactively drive event sales within the membership base, introduce new event concepts informed by industry trends and ensure RSYS continues to be recognised as a premier harbour-side event destination.
Working closely with the Hospitality Director and partnering across Sailing, Membership, Communications and Hospitality teams, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of events that strengthen member engagement and support the Squadron's strategic objectives.
What You'll Do
* Drive event sales growth across member functions, corporate events, regattas, conferences and private celebrations
* Maximise the utilisation of the RSYS functions and event spaces
* Design and introduce new event concepts that keep the annual calendar fresh, engaging and commercially successful
* Convert enquiries into confirmed bookings through professional client engagement and relationship building
* Lead the planning and delivery of premium events from concept through to execution
* Oversee the successful delivery of signature Squadron events and regattas
* Manage, mentor and develop the Events Coordinator
* Demonstrate at least 1-2 years of experience managing staff in a professional environment
* Build strong partnerships with suppliers, schools, corporates and community organisations
* Manage budgets, forecasting, reporting and financial performance of the Events Department
* Collaborate across departments to deliver seamless whole-of-club experiences
What You Bring
* Minimum 5 years' experience in event sales, business development or event management within hospitality, premium venues, clubs or hotels
* Preferably experience working in member-based organisations or private clubs
* A strong track record of revenue generation and converting event opportunities
* A passion for delivering exceptional service and memorable guest experiences
* Demonstrated experience delivering weddings, corporate functions and large-scale events
* Commercial acumen and financial management capability
* Strong leadership, organisation and project-management skills
* Confidence working with members, clients and senior stakeholders
* A creative mindset with the ability to introduce new event ideas informed by industry trends
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
