About the Role
As a Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our workshop. This includes ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Leadership: Directly supervise workshop staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Lead by example with a strong focus on people management and leadership.
2. Working in Collaboration: Work closely with the Leading Hand to coordinate workflow, provide support, and ensure seamless operations within the workshop.
3. Technical Support: Offer technical support and direction to workshop employees, as well as providing technical assistance on company products to both employees and customers.
4. Safety Compliance: Ensure all staff adhere to safety procedures and regulations while performing tasks, maintaining a safe working environment.
5. Administrative Tasks: Manage staff timesheets and leave requests, plan and quote for workshop jobs, sign off on completed work, and assist the State Manager with inventory management.
6. Customer Liaison: Act as a liaison between sales staff, customers, and the workshop, ensuring clear communication and customer satisfaction.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure all crack testing and welding processes meet Australian standards. Monitor dispatch and receiving processes to ensure efficiency and timeliness. Oversee dispatch items to ensure quality products are shipped.
8. Supplier Relations: Liaise with external suppliers and other branches, assisting with queries and stock transfers as needed.
9. Training and Development: Conduct toolbox talks, plan daily activities for workshop personnel, mentor and train apprentices and staff to develop their skills.
10. Process Improvement: Source new tooling, develop improved processes to enhance factory productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor procedures and tasks for risk reduction and safety improvements. Lead by example and monitor staff compliance.
11. Documentation and Communication: Ensure all job documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately. Facilitate clear communication between factory staff, office staff, sales, and customers.
