Wheelchair Technical Instructor Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Wheelchair Technical Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our clients with mobility needs. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing technical expertise and advice to clinical staff on wheelchair assessments and prescriptions.
* Fitting and adjusting seating systems and postural devices to ensure optimal comfort and safety.
* Designing minor modifications to wheelchairs as required by therapists' prescriptions.
* Modifying existing equipment via build-ups or add-ons as necessary.
* Conducting domiciliary visits to hand over and adjust wheelchairs and associated equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A BTEC/HNC Level or City and Guilds qualification, plus relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
* Dexterity to repair wheelchairs.
* Supervisory experience.
* Experience of maintaining and repairing disability equipment/medical devices in a healthcare setting.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
