FMAR & ITAR Specialist | Defence Program | NV1+
Location: Canberra/Sydney based however can be a virtual role, in any major city throughout Australia
Clearance: NV1 (minimum)
Engagement: Contract or Permanent

We are seeking an experienced FMAR & ITAR Manager/Specialist to join a major Government Digital program managing sensitive, export-controlled technologies and FMS assets.
This role is critical to ensuring the organisation meets all US DoD, Australian Government, FMAR, ITAR, and DTCA obligations while supporting secure capability delivery.
Role Responsibilities
Providing expert advice on FMAR, ITAR, DTCA, and export-control obligations across the program.
Managing the governance, documentation, financial tracking, and audit requirements of FMS cases.
Overseeing the handling, storage, transfer, and protection of ITAR-controlled technical data, equipment, and software.
Supporting accreditation, assurance, and audit activities, including evidence preparation and compliance reviews.
Embedding export-control considerations into engineering, project delivery, commercial activities, and vendor engagement.
Delivering training, briefings, and awareness sessions to uplift program understanding of FMAR and ITAR requirements.
Interfacing with US DoD, OEMs, suppliers, and international partners to maintain compliant information-exchange pathways.
Managing risk assessments, reporting, and remediation for any FMAR or ITAR non-compliance.
Your Experience
Strong working knowledge of FMAR, ITAR, DTCA, and associated Defence export-control frameworks.
Experience working in Defence, FMS programs, secure ICT, logistics, engineering, commercial, or compliance environments.
Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into operational controls and guidance.
Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills across multidisciplinary Defence and industry teams.
NV1 clearance required; NV2 preferred.
