Job Description
About the position
ACO graduates undertake a 2-year program where they experience a unique clinical experience commencing at our 25 room Carlton clinic, you will have unparalleled access to peer feedback and assistance from experienced optometrists, many of whom were once part of our graduate program themselves. All graduate optometrists will also experience how a smaller clinic runs, working within ACO metropolitan clinics.
You will have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art ophthalmic technology. Our specialty clinics will also help you to continue to develop your skills as an optometrist including our dedicated Paediatrics clinic, Specialist Contact Lenses, Glaucoma Clinic, and Dry Eye.
With dedicated training time and access to expert clinical mentors, the ACO is dedicated to supporting and developing the next generation of public health optometrists!
Key Information
* Two-year appointment to work as a full-time optometrist.
* Nine-day fortnights with a rostered day off.
* Working hours from 8.30 am to 5.45 pm
* No Sundays or late nights
* Locations:Carlton and nominated ACO metro clinics.

Accountabilities
* Provide clinical services of a high quality and apply a high standard of clinical skill and knowledge, whilst working to established clinic protocols.
* Provide care that is responsive, inclusive, and respectful of cultural and individual differences, responsive to patient needs, and involves patients in decision making.
* Act always in a professional and ethical way in relationships with patients, colleagues, and other health care and service professionals.
* Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional conduct in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and external healthcare providers.
* Work independently while also collaborating with optometrists and support staff, proactively contributing to clinic operations.

Skills and Knowledge
* Experience in working for a not for profit, or public health organisation will be well regarded.
* Evidence of achievement and of commitment to high standards of clinical knowledge, empathy, and communication.
* Demonstrated enthusiasm for clinical care.
* Evidence of a strong service focus, including capacity to respond and show initiative in the provision of quality services.
* A strong motivation to serve the community and in particular people who are disadvantaged .
* Registered to practice optometry in Australia.
* Willingness and ability to travel to ACO metropolitan and outreach clinics across Victoria.
* All Optometrists are expected to provide their own hand held ophthalmic equipment.
