Purchasing Officer
Our ideal candidate will have strong initiative and problem-solving skills, with excellent organisation and attention to detail. They will be able to handle a fluctuating workload and have solid computer skills, preferably including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and JDEdwards.
We are looking for a driven and personable Purchasing Officer who can effectively manage purchasing processes, control spend, and keep operations running smoothly. The successful candidate will report to the Supply Chain Superintendent and work closely with suppliers across various industries.
* Raise, approve, and expedite purchase orders
* Reconcile invoices in Oracle (JDE) and resolve unmatched invoices
* Manage warehouse stock, including cycle counts and inventory audits
* Liaise with suppliers
* Facilitate vendor-managed consumables and process stock returns/transfers
* Monitor and action the Underground Requisitions mailbox
* Provide general admin support to the supply team and assist with ad-hoc tasks
The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a solid understanding of business processes and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing Purchasing Processes:
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing, including sourcing, procurement, and contract management. They will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and address opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Controlling Spend:
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all purchases are made in accordance with established policies and procedures. They will monitor and control expenditure, identifying areas where costs can be reduced or improved.
Keeping Operations Running Smoothly:
The Purchasing Officer will play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our business, working closely with colleagues to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
