About the role
Why This Role Matters
Doctors spend years studying and face enormous financial pressure before becoming fellows. When they finally start practicing, they're expected to manage Medicare compliance, ATO obligations, and business operations —with almost no support. This gap leads to stress, isolation, and burnout.
We believe accountants can change that. By providing practical advice, financial clarity and strategic guidance, you'll empower doctors to focus on what matters most: patient care, the reason they chose to become medical professionals.
My Story
"After years in accounting, I hit a wall. Most of my work was based on year‑old data, and I questioned whether this was what I wanted long‑term. Then Xero gave me real‑time visibility—and I realized I could make a real impact.
Initially, medical was my least preferred specialization. I thought, 'They charge $90 for a 10‑minute consult—why feel sorry about a big tax bill?' my role is quite limited anyway with PSI rule and Part VIA.
But when I learned about the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) through Business for Doctors, everything changed. I discovered the reality: years of study, financial strain and almost no guidance on managing finances. That sparked a passion in me—to help them so they can help others.
Now, I start every engagement by listening. I've had clients cry during discovery sessions because they finally felt heard. This role isn't just about tax strategies—it's about understanding their journey and building trust. If you share these values, I want you on our Medical specialist team."
