About the Role
The Counsellor Advocate provides trauma-informed counselling and support to clients impacted by family violence, sexual assault, and harmful sexual behaviours. The role focuses on short-term counselling (approximately 4-12 sessions) and may also include broader therapeutic and case management support depending on client need. Clients often present with complex trauma, requiring structured, evidence-based interventions.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in counselling and trauma-informed practice
* Background supporting family violence and/or sexual assault clients
* Ability to work with complex trauma presentations
* Counsellors, social workers, or psychologists with relevant experience
* Strong transferable skills with depth of clinical practice also considered
Service Needs
* Multiple vacancies available due to high demand
* Rapid recruitment process with immediate interviews
* Locum support available initially, with potential for ongoing roles (not guaranteed)
Work Arrangements
* Based in Geelong with preference for on-site work
* Some WFH flexibility may be considered depending on location
* Flexible engagement: 0.6-1.0 EFT (part-time to full-time)
Salary & Conditions
* SCHADS Level: $72.73 per hour
* Counselling role with flexible EFT options
