Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Import Sea Freight Operator to join our dynamic team. The Import Sea Freight Operator plays a key role in the end-to-end coordination of sea freight imports, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of international cargo from the load port through to final delivery. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of freight forwarding procedures, documentation requirements, and sea cargo automation systems to support seamless operations and optimal client service.
Key Responsibilities
* Shipment Monitoring - Track and monitor all sea freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely updates and escalation of any delays or discrepancies.
* Documentation Management - Identify, source, verify, and obtain all necessary shipment documentation as required (e.g., Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, import permits, etc.) to ensure smooth cargo clearance and delivery.
* System Proficiency - Utilize systems such as ICS (Integrated Cargo System) and CargoWise One (CW1) for accurate shipment data entry, tracking, reporting, and milestone updates.
* Stakeholder Coordination - Communicate and coordinate with shipping lines, overseas agents, customs brokers, internal departments (e.g., Fleet Team, Accounts), and clients to ensure all parties are informed and aligned.
* Problem Solving - Proactively address and resolve issues related to customs delays, document discrepancies, or cargo misrouting. Demonstrate initiative in mitigating risks and limiting impacts to clients and the business.
* Compliance & Regulations - Ensure compliance with all applicable local and international customs, import/export, and maritime regulations, including sea cargo automation requirements.
* Prioritization & Time Management - Effectively manage workload and prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines and service level agreements, especially during peak periods or urgent shipments.
Qualifications
Your Expertise
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in import sea freight operations within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
* Strong working knowledge of ICS, CargoWise One (CW1), and other freight management systems.
* Familiarity with sea cargo automation processes and common system-related issues.
* Team-Oriented with a Positive Attitude
* Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across different teams and stakeholders.
* High attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy and client satisfaction.
