Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement and leading a small team, the Category Manager – IT will partner closely with IT stakeholders and business leaders to understand technology requirements and deliver procurement strategies that drive value for money, enable effective supplier management, and support strategic priorities. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the sourcing and negotiation of IT solutions, optimise supplier performance, and ensure procurement practices are robust, compliant, and commercially sound, while building trusted relationships and strategic partnerships that enhance collaboration, operational efficiency, and innovation across NGM Group.
What will your key responsibilities include?
* IT Procurement Strategy & Sourcing: Lead a small team to develop and implement fit-for-purpose procurement strategies, manage sourcing processes, and negotiate agreements that deliver value, efficiency, and alignment with business priorities.
* Supplier & Contract Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, oversee contract negotiation and compliance, and monitor market conditions to drive performance and identify opportunities.
* Cost Optimisation & Risk Management: Conduct market analysis to identify savings, improve efficiency, and proactively manage risks such as supply chain disruption, market volatility, and regulatory compliance.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IT, Finance, Operations, Legal and other business units to ensure procurement strategies are integrated with organisational objectives and deliver stakeholder value.
* Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and analyse procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and category outcomes, providing actionable insights and improvements to management.
What are we looking for?
Extensive experience in IT procurement, ideally in a regulated environment, with proven ability to deliver category strategies and outcomes that align with organisational priorities.
* Strong commercial acumen with a track record of achieving cost savings, efficiencies, and optimal business results.
* Skilled in contract negotiation and supplier management, with success in building and sustaining strategic partnerships that deliver long-term value.
* Proven ability to engage, influence, and build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, while delivering high-quality internal customer service and effectively supporting Technology's strategic objectives.
* Demonstrated people leadership skills, including the ability to foster collaboration, build capability, and drives high performance within teams.
* Strong knowledge of procurement procedures, governance, and compliance requirements, supported by exceptional communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
