Senior Associate / Special Counsel – Perth
We are seeking a senior associate or special counsel to join our leading Perth practice.
We have multiple practice groups, including defendant workers' compensation and government/administrative law.
Role Overview
In this role you will join one of our teams based on your experience and interests. Within our workers' compensation practice, you will advise and represent insurer and employer clients on a range of matters, including representing their interests at WorkCover WA and in District and Supreme Court litigation. Alternatively, within our government and administrative law practice, you will act for Commonwealth departments and agencies on public law matters, including those arising under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), with exposure to merits review proceedings and matters in the Administrative Review Tribunal and Federal Court.
This is an opportunity to take on a senior position within a high-performing team, with strong client exposure, autonomy over your matters, and the ability to contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice.
Responsibilities
* Advise and represent insurer and employer clients in workers' compensation matters at WorkCover WA and in District and Supreme Court litigation.
* Act for Commonwealth departments and agencies on public law matters, including NDIS matters, merits review proceedings, and proceedings in the Administrative Review Tribunal and Federal Court.
* Provide strategic legal advice and manage complex legal matters within your area of expertise.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships.
* Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of PAE as an experienced practitioner in the personal injury (Plaintiff or Defendant) space or government/administrative law.
* Demonstrated experience managing complex matters within your area of expertise.
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability.
* Experience in litigation, tribunal or court proceedings.
* Leadership qualities, including mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team development.
