Work Health and Safety Policy Developer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Work Health and Safety Desk Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing WHS policy and programs based on identified risk, industry best practice, regulator recommendations and assurance program outcomes.
This role involves engaging with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues, demonstrating and applying specialist knowledge of work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures relevant to Navy.
The successful candidate will also provide specialist advice to work health and safety advisers, Commanders and Managers and other stakeholders, liaise and act as a point of contact as necessary with other authorities and interest groups on work health and safety specialist matters.
In addition, the successful candidate will evaluate activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures relevant to Navy, resolve problems using specialist expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for work health and safety activities.

The Directorate of Navy Safety and Environment works across a range of specialisations including work health and safety, occupational hygiene, environment protection, and compliance and risk management systems.
