About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Manager to oversee all facets of payroll, employment compliance, and human resources. This role is pivotal in ensuring full legislative compliance, driving positive workplace culture, and aligning HR practices with organisational goals.
You'll be responsible for ensuring adherence to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), National Employment Standards (NES), and Modern Award interpretation, while supporting the end-to-end employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding to performance, development, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and National Employment Standards (NES).
* Oversee roster compliance, notice requirements, working hours, and payroll budgets.
* Ensure all team members record time accurately and are paid according to verified clock in/out data.
* Conduct BOOT (Better Off Overall Test) assessments fortnightly.
* Interpret and apply Modern Awards accurately; ensure the payroll system is correctly configured and updated.
* Manage and maintain employee records
* Remain up to date with employment law, award changes, and regulatory requirements.
* Lead workforce planning and end-to-end recruitment (job listings, position descriptions, interviews, and appointments).
* Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
* Manage the performance appraisal framework and process.
* Support the CEO in managing performance issues, and grievances in line with the Fair Work Act.
* Promote and maintain a positive workplace culture and high employee engagement.
* Develop, update, and implement workplace policies and procedures
* Ensure all policies and procedures are communicated and accessible to staff
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive competencies register and training calendar.
* Arrange training sessions to ensure competencies are current and aligned with operational requirements.
* Oversee return-to-work (RTW) programs and employee wellbeing initiatives.
* Manage the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and promote staff wellbeing across the organisation.
* Undertake annual employee surveys and present recommendations
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (preferable, not compulsory)
* Proven experience in payroll management and HR compliance within a complex or multi-site environment.
* Strong knowledge of Fair Work legislation, NES, and Modern Awards.
* Experience with Definitiv (or similar payroll platforms) highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
