The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS)
The Role: The ACVVS, funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely or socially isolated to build friendships and reduce loneliness. In this volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide regular social support visits in their home. Activities during your visit are based on your and your client's interests and may include crocheting, general conversation, listening to music or sharing stories.
Our Client
Born in Tasmania, she raised her family while owning and running a local coffee shop. Currently in her late"b80s, she enjoys listening to music, playing with dogs, walking around a residential aged-care facility, and chatting with others. She would like to spend time chatting and walking around with her new volunteer visitor.
What you'll do
* Provide companionship and social support to the client.
* Plan and participate in activities based on the client's interests.
* Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of the client.
* Report progress and any concerns to the Volunteer Program.

About you
* Lives in and around Prospect Vale or willing to travel.
* Has clear communication skills.
* Is compassionate, patient, and an excellent listener.
* Is passionate about giving back to the community.
* Conducts yourself with open‑mindedness and respect, ensuring privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of clients.
* Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program.
* Available for a flexible six‑month commitment.
Time Commitment
1 hour per week or fortnight, between 9:00 am–5:00 pm. Flexibility is encouraged; contact the Volunteer Program to find hours that suit you.
