Full time opportunity, fixed term for 3 months with possibility of extension Develop and implement proactive media and public relations strategies promoting Faculty of Medicine and Health research Base Salary $121,508 - $137,032 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Media and PR Adviser is responsible for promoting research, reputation and teaching in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. This role will develop and implement proactive media and public relations strategies that support faculty initiatives and strategies and identify faculty achievements and research stories for media placement to increase the University's media profile and to enhance the University's brand positioning. The role includes responding to media enquiries and coordinating other media activities and outreach. You will lead content creation while managing media relationships and oversee daily monitoring and analysis of media activity in line with strategic objectives. Your key responsibilities will be to: develop and execute agreed to media and public relations strategies to support major faculty initiatives assist the Senior Media and PR Adviser, Faculty of Medicine and Health in the development and execution media strategies identify, develop, write and promote stories and cross-channel content regarding the complete range of faculty research, teaching and community engagement activities create, build, and maintain key working relationships with relevant journalists, writers and specialist reporters in TV, print, radio and online environments build strong relationships and provide expert media and public relations advice to the Dean, Heads of MDIs, and senior leaders including senior academic staff About you Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience a strong ability to translate complex ideas, including in medicine and health or STEM, and translate them to media-accessible stories demonstrated experience pitching to the media and obtaining coverage, with a strong understanding of how the news cycle works and how media and its audience is changing proven stakeholder management skills and relationship development skills, with the ability to build relationships with media and research academics highly developed written and oral communication skills with experience in writing for social media, media releases and strategies relevant IT skills in online publishing, media distribution and engaging with relevant audiences open to contributing to occasional paid overtime as required. While the role will focus on the Faculty of Medicine and Health the University reserves the right to transfer the portfolio responsibilities of this position based on workload or business needs.
